Photograph from the Curzon Collection: 'Views in Meywar'', of the Jagdish temple, Udaipur taken by Deen Dayal in c.1890. The Jagdish Temple at Udaipur dates from 1651 and is dedicated to Vishnu as Jagannath, Lord of the Universe. This view shows the entrance steps that lead to the temple.The outer walls are elaborately carved; the basement has multi-faceted mouldings including friezes of elephants. Two tiers of sculptures representing the various divinities are set on the wall recesses and projections. Above rises the clustered curvilinear tower.
