Photograph of the tomb of Ranjit Singh in Lahore from the 'Lee-Warner Collection: 'Bombay Presidency. William Lee Warner C.S.' taken by John Edward Saché in the 1870s. Lahore is the capital of the Punjab province in Pakistan. This region has been ruled by the Ghaznavids, the Delhi Sultanate, the Mughals, the Sikhs and the British. Ranjit Singh, who ruled the Punjab between 1799 and 1839, was responsible for consolidating Sikh power in the region. His tomb is located in Lahore near the Fort and the Badshahi Mosque. It was completed in 1848.
