Full-length standing carte-de-visite portrait of Venkatrao (Bala Sahib), Chief of Mudhol (1861-1900) from the 'Album of cartes de visite portraits of Indian rulers and notables' by Bourne and Shepherd, early 1870s. Mudhol now in the state of Karnataka was a Princely state which became a feudatory of the British in 19th century. The Mudhol chiefs belong to the Bhonsale-Ghorpare family of the Marathas. Venkatrao succeeded from his father Balwant Rao as a minor in 1862.
