Photograph of the Madrassa of Imam Zamin, Kutub Minar, Delhi from the 'Strachey Collection of Indian Views', taken by Shepherd and Robertson in 1862.The Qutab Minar Complex was initiated by Qutb-ud-din in the twelve century to celebrate the onset of the Islamic presence in India; the buildings were constructed over three different periods of rule with the exception of the fourth century Iron Pillar. The central structure is the Alai Darwaza, a gateway building near the Qutab Minar; the tomb of Imam Zamin is in the right background.
