Photograph of the main façade of the Jhanjiri Mosque, Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, from the Archaeological Survey of India Collections, taken by a 'Native photographer for Mr Burgess' in 1888. The mosque was built in c.1430. This is a view of the only remaining part of the mosque; the central portion of the facade. The name Jhangiri derives from the screen-like appearance of the building. There is intricate decoration on the stone work of the screens, pillars and brackets.
