A hand-coloured print of a Mosque in Kidderpore from the 'Fiebig Collection: Views of Calcutta and Surrounding Districts', taken by Frederick Fiebig in 1851. Most mosques in Calcutta and the surrounding area follow the Anglo-Indian architectural style popular in the 19th century. Islamic heritage in Calcutta can be seen by the number of Mosques built within the city and the surrounding area; in 1850 there were 74 and by 1905 that number had increased to 486. This print is of a mosque located in Kidderpore, what was once a suburb of Calcutta, south of the Maidan.
