Military offices [Vadodara]
Medium: Photographic print
Photograph of military offices at Baroda, Gujarat from the Curzon Collection, taken by an unknown photographer during the 1890s. The main military station in Baroda was the cantonment, situated to the north-west of the city, but there was also a military office in the compound of public offices within the ancient Juni Kothi or old fort. This included the Secretariat, Record Office, Police Office and the State Library. The military office building dates from the mid- to late-19th century. It is built of brick and masonry in an Indo-Saracenic style, with a projecting entrance portico and arched window arcades inset with carved stone jali screens.
