Photograph of the marble tomb of Mughali Bibi in the Rani Ka Hajira, or Tombs of the Queens, at Ahmadabad in Gujarat, taken in c. 1881, from the Archaeological Survey of India. There are eight marble tombs on a platform within the cloister. This view shows the central tomb, probably that of Bibi Mughali, wife of Muhammad Shah II (r.1442-51) and mother of Sultan Mahmud Begarha (r.1458-1511). The sides of the tomb are carved with a row of niches, each carved with the chain and lamp or censor motif.
