Full-length seated portrait of Maharao Raja Sir Ramsinghji Bahadur, Chief of Bundi in Rajputana by Gunpatrao Abajee Kale, c.1897. The photograph is from an album of views of Bundi formerly in the collection of Horatio Kitchener, 1st Earl Kitchener of Khartoum and Broome, (1850-1916), who was Commander in Chief of India between 1902 and 1909. Ramsinghji Bahadur was descended from the Hara Chauhan clan of Rajputs, the ruling family of Bundi State, who were held in high esteem in princely hierarchy. The Maharao succeeded to the throne on 28 March 1889. His highness was made a Knight Commander of the Indian Empire on 1 January 1894 and a Knight Commander of the Star of India on 1 January 1897. He died in 1927, ruling for 38 years.
