Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka, was founded in the 16th century by Kempe Gowda. The Lal Bagh Botanical Gardens were laid out in the 18th century by Haider Ali and expanded by his son Tipu Sultan. This view of the gardens shows a single-storey European building flanked by two square towers.
