Photograph from the Curzon Collection: 'Views in Meywar'', of the Palace and Tripolia Gate, Udaipur taken by Deen Dayal in c.1890. The City Palace of the Maharanas at Udaipur overlooks Lake Pichola. The principal access is from the town bazaar through the Badi Pol which leads to the triple-arched Tripolia Gate, seen in this photograph, with the City Palace beyond that dominates the west side of a large court called Manek Chowk. The palace is a complex of buildings, started in 1567 and extended for more than two hundred years, built in a Rajput and Mughal style of architecture.
