Photograph of Dakshineshwar temple at Kali Ghat from 'Views of Calcutta and Barrackpore' was taken by Samuel Bourne in the 1860s. Though titled Ramnath Temple at Kalighat, this is actually a view of the Dakshineshwar temple located along the Hoogly River in Calcutta. The temple was built by Rani Rashmoni in 1855 and is dedicated to the goddess Kali. Within the temple complex there are twelve smaller temples devoted to Shiva.
