Full-length standing carte-de-visite portrait of Sir Kalb Ali Khan, Nawab of Rampur (1832-1887) by Bourne and Shepherd, early 1870s. Rampur, the capital of Rohilkhand located in Uttar Pradesh, controlled by the Afghan Rohillas who established their power the 18th century. Sir Kalb Ali Khan succeeded in 1864. He was created Knight Commander of the Most Exalted Order of the Star of India and a Companion of the Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire. He was a Persian and Arabic scholar. Sir kalb died in 1887.
