River scene in the Sutlej Valley.
Medium: Photographic print
Photograph of the Sutlej river from the 'Crofton Collection: Topographical and architectural views mostly in India', taken by an unknown photographer in the 1860s. The Sutlej is a rapidly flowing river through mountanious valleys, longest of the five rivers of the Punjab at 1,450 km. It flows west, curving through the Himalayas in India, then onto the Punjab plain where it forms part of the India-Pakistan border.
