Photograph of a ruined brick stupa at Basarh, with a lion pillar on the left.. This photograph was taken by Thomas Fraser Peppé in 1870 and is part of the collection of Sir Richard Carnac Temple. The Asokan Edict Pillar with a lion capital is on the left and the ruins of the stupa, covered in vegetation and with a pipal tree growing on top, are at the right of the photograph.
