Photographer: Archaeological Survey of India
Medium: Photographic print
Photograph of the tope (stupa) at Mir Rukan in Sind, Pakistan, taken by a photographer of the Archaeological survey of India in the 1870s. This Buddhist stupa, or funerary mound, is situated nine miles south-east of Daultpur and fifteen miles east of Sehwan. From the ruins of the building it can be seen that it was built of brick in four tiers surmounted by a dome. Each tier was divided by a line of pilasters carved in relief with ornamented capitals.
