Udaipur was founded by Maharana Udai Singh (ruled 1567-72) as the fourth and last capital of the Mewar state after the sacking of Chitorgarh, the previous capital. The city is situated in a picturesque setting surrounded by lakes and rolling hills. This view shows the colonial style Residency House at Udaipur.
