Photograph of the Rani Ka Hajira or Tombs of the Queens at Ahmadabad in Gujarat, taken by Henry Cousens in the 1880s, from the Archaeological Survey of India. This is a view of the eight marble tombs on a platform within the cloister. The central tomb is probably that of Bibi Mughali, wife of Muhammad Shah II (r.1442-51) and mother of Sultan Mahmud Begarha (r.1458-1511). A nearby tomb in black marble, once inlaid with mother-of-pearl, is probably that of Murki Bibi, sister of Bibi Mughali and first wife of Shaikh Shah Alam. Both tombs are carved with intricate detail.
