Photograph from the Archaeological Survey of India Collections, of a sculpture of a Bodhisattva at Ghenjam (Ghenjan), Gaya District credited to Joseph David Beglar c. 1880. Because of confusion in the attribution of preceding prints it seems likely that this photograph was actually taken by Garrick. According to the Bengal list, (pp. 326-327) "About a mile-and-a-half from Kispa, to the north-east, there is a village called Ghenjan, on the top of a large mound. Here there is a very fine statue of Buddha, the ascetic, with representations of the birth, teaching and death or Nirvana of Sakya Simha in small figures surrounding it. This is one of the best executed sculptures in the district, and although much mutilated and broken, is of considerable interest."
