Photographer: Bourne and Shepherd
Medium: Photographic print
Photograph of the Small Sasbahu Temple, Gwalior, from the Archaeological Survey of India Collections, taken by Bourne and Shepherd in c.1833. The two Sasbahu Hindu temples date from 1093 and stand within the great fortress, on a hill overlooking the town of Gwalior. This view shows the smaller of the two Sasbahu Temples, which was photographed after restoration work. The smaller temple consists of an open porch with a pyramidal roof. The high basement and the vaulted ceiling of the interior have carved decoration.
