Jammu and Kashmir is a Himalayan region in north-western India famous for its lovely mountain scenery and lakes. The Bakkarwals are a pastoral nomadic tribe, who travel with their flocks of sheep and goats, to the lush high mountain pastures in the summer and return to the foothills in the winter. Widows, orphans, the sick and elderly are cared for communally.
