Photograph of the Farhad Bakhsh Palace, Lucknow, taken by Samuel Bourne in the 1860s. Part of the Chattar Manzil Palace complex, the Farhad Bakhsh (literally Giver of Delight) was formerly the town residence of Major General Claude Martin (1735-1800) who served with the East India Company. Previously it accommodated the king’s wives and family.
