Wheeler's entrenchment, devised by Major General Hugh Wheeler, was composed of two barracks used as a hospital and was the location Wheeler set up his defence strategy against the sepoys. However, this site resulted in the first Kanpur massacre where Europeans who had surrendered and were fired upon by sepoys.
