Photograph of Tipu Sultan's summer palace, the Darya Daulat Bagh at Seringapatam. This print was taken by an unknown photographer in the 1860s and is from the photograph album of Major General Jackson Muspratt-Williams. The Darya Daulat or 'Garden of the Wealth of the Sea', was built by Tipu Sultan in 1784 to serve as his summer palace. It is characterised by graceful proportions, and richly coloured arabesque work in which it is decorated throughout.
