Photograph of Tippu Sultan's Tomb in Seringapatam.This print was taken by an unknown photographer in the 1860s and is from the photograph album of Major General Jackson Muspratt-Williams. Tipu Sultan built the Gumbaz mausoleum (1784) for himself and his father Haider Ali. A long alley of cypress trees leads to the tomb and the building itself is crowned by a dome with minarets at the corners and is surrounded by a corridor with polished pillars.
