Photograph of the Rajah's bathing-place at Seringapatam in Karnataka, taken by an unknown photographer in the 1860s. This bathing-ghat was used by the Wodeyar Rajahs, the ruling dynasty of Seringapatam, whose sovereignty was taken over by Haider Ali, the Commander of the Rajah's army, on the death of the contemporary ruler. The Wodeyar Rajahs were later re-instated by the British after the death of Tipu Sultan, Haider Ali's son, at the storming of the capital in 1799.
