Photograph of small carved elephants from the Mahadeva Temple, Baijnath, Shahabad District, in Uttar Pradesh, taken by Henry B W Garrick in 1881-2, from the Archaeological Survey of India Collections. The small Mahadeva Temple is mainly built of stone. Garrick writes: '..It would be altogether unworthy of notice were it not for the ruthless waste of sculptures, and, very likely, valuable inscriptions also, that it exhibits in every part...'
