Photograph of three full-length standing statues of tirthankaras in the Bhand Dewal temple at Arang, taken by Joseph David Beglar between 1873 and 1874 and described in his in his 'Report of a tour...in the Central Provinces, 1873-74' : "The next temple is known as Bhand dewal, from the naked .... figures adorning it outside and enshrined inside...The figures inside consist of three colossal naked figures in polished black stone in an elaborately ornamented frame; the central statue has the wheel symbol with two antelopes, the left-hand figure has an antelope, and the right a ball and a winged figure, as symbols, on the pedestal."
