Photograph of a temple at Chamba in Himachal Pradesh, taken by an unknown photographer in the 1870s. Chamba has two main fourteenth century temples, the Lakshmi Narayana Complex and the Hariraya Temple. The typical temple at Chamba has wall projections with miniature niches which continue up the curved tower the upper portion of which is hidden by an overhanging wooden roof which is a later addition to the building. Several of these temples contain interesting metal images.
