Photograph of the interior of the dome of the Jami Masjid at Thatta in the Karachi District of Sind in Pakistan, taken by Henry Cousens in 1896. This is an interior view, showing decorative tile work. Cousens wrote in The Antiquities of Sind, "...the great feature of the mosque is its coloured tile work within, the whole of the interior being covered with it...the work...is in a fairly good state of preservation...Plate LXII [this image] shows the lining of the main dome, as seen from below, which, owing to the colours used and the mosaic of the design has the appearance of a starry vault."
