Photograph of memorial stone from Velapur, in the Sholapur District of Maharashtra, taken by Henry Cousens, from the Archaeological Survey of India Collections: Western India 1897-98. The temple at Velapur is in the Hemadpanti style dating to c.1300 in the reign of Devagiri Yadava king Ramchandra (1271-1310). Numerous temples in the Hemadpanti style were built in Central India under the Yadava dynasty in the 12th century. A group of memorial stones were found scattered on the ground near the temple at Velapur. The carved panels on the stone in this view represent battle scenes, maidens attending a figure, and linga worship (top panel).
