Photograph of a temple with a tank at Velapur in the Sholapur District of Maharashtra, taken by Henry Cousens, from the Archaeological Survey of India Collections: Western India 1897-98. The temple at Velapur is in the Hemadpanti style dating to c.1300 in the reign of Devagiri Yadava king Ramchandra (1271-1310). Numerous temples in the Hemadpanti style were built in Central India under the Yadava dynasty in the 12th century. They are characterised by a certain heaviness and the decoration consists mainly of wall mouldings. There is no figure sculpture on the outer walls.
