This view of Wingfield Park in Lucknow was taken by Samuel Bourne in the 1860s for an album entitled 'Photographs of India and Overland Route'. The park was laid out on the site of an existing garden, the 'Banares Bagh' or Varanasi Gardens. It commemorates Sir Charles Wingfield, Chief Commissioner of Oudh (1859-66). There are formal walkways and marble pavilions which provide shady resting points. The farther rectangular columned pavilion is known as the Baradari and once formed part of the grounds of the Kaisar Bagh also in Lucknow.
