Illustration of Codrington College in Barbados taken from Frederick Bayley's 'Four Years Residence in the West Indies.' When General Christopher Codrington died in 1710 he bequeathed his two plantations to the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel on condition that a school should be built there. In 1830 the school became an Anglican theological college for the training of priests. It was located on top of a hill with views across the Atlantic ocean.
