Illustration from Frederick Bayley's 'Four Years Residence in the West Indies.' It depicts the parish of St George on the island of Grenada, and the Carenage, which was a deeply indented bay to the west of the island. The river Carenage flows into the bay and the name soon became applied to the surrounding area.
