Lotated in the South West of the Caribbean the island of Curaco is just 182 square miles in size. It was first charted by Alsono de Ojeda in the late 15th century who it is said named it Curacao after the Portuguese word for cure, because a number of sailors with scurvy had recuperated after living on the island. A number of buildings on the island have been identified such as Mr Basden's Wharf and Look out House as well as Fort Vigilant.
