This is a watercolour of Carlisle Bay in Barbados and was made during a voyage to the island by the Master of St Ann's in 1762. Carlisle Bay is Barbados' only natural harbour and is located in the south west of the island. It is named after the Earl of Carlisle who succeeded Sir William Courteen as Master of the island in 1629.
