Lady Nugents Journal- Title Page

This is the title page of Lady Maria Nugent's journal, which she kept from 1801 until 1805 and which was published in 1839, five years after her death. Lady Nugent's husband George was Governor of Jamaica (1801-1806) and the journal gives an insight into his work as well as that of other British officials. It also contains information about Maria's social life, her friends and acquaintances, and her views on plantation life.
