This is a view of St John's Harbour in Antigua, drawn from the perspective of Fryers Hill in the north of the island. It shows Captain Hayes' sugar works and buildings to the right of the centre. The dwellings of the enslaved population are indicated, as is the harbour in the background and Fort James, which was situated at the extremity of a narrow strip of land. Rat Island, with its hospital, is also shown.
