Extract from Elizabeth Heyrick's "Appeal to the Hearts & Conscience of British Women", 1828
This extract is taken from Elizabeth Heyrick's, 'An Appeal to the Hearts and Conscience of British Women.' Heyrick was a social reformer who campaigned for the abolition of the slave trade by organising a West Indian sugar boycott in Leicester. She also formed the Birmingham Ladies Society for the Relief of Negro Slaves, later renamed The Female Society for Birmingham.
