This is a plan of Westminster Abbey at the time of the Coronation of King George II. George II's reign was overshadowed by the Jacobite Rebellion, which began in 1745 with the arrival in Scotland of Charles Edward Stuart, the Young Pretender. The Jacobite threat came to an end when Charles was defeated at the Battle of Culloden in April 1746. The country prospered greatly during George II's reign with expansion of the coal and shipbuilding industries, a general growth in population, and Madras and Bengal coming under British control.
