The title of this proposed plan for the new General Record Repository appears at top left. A compass star features at top centre, with a scale bar at bottom centre and key at bottom left. This key also shows plans for future enlargements and a new road linking the City to the West End. Designed by Pennethorne, the imposing mock-Tudor buildings on Chancery Lane received their first official records in the 1860s.
