Plan of the Fitz Roy Farm and Highgate estate, being a portion of the freehold ground rents of the Lord Southampton

Lithographer: Madeley, George Edward
Medium: Lithograph
Date: 1840

This plan was produced for the sale of Lord Southampton's estate in 1840. The title and compass appear at lower left, with scale bar at the foot of the plate. The Earl of Mansfield, of Kenwood House in Hampstead, bought most of the lots at the auction held on 11 August 1840. He stopped building applications being granted on these lots. The blank diagrams on this plan thus represent proposed houses that were never built. Most of the land shown is still public open space, and was added to Hampstead Heath in the1920s.
