View of Rolt's House on the New Road opposite the Globe Inn. The inn was where John Evelyn used to collect rents from his tenants near his seat at Sayes Court. Peter Rolt was a descendant of the Pett family of shipbuilders. A timber merchant by trade, Rolt was also the Member of Parliament for Greenwich.
