A Wooden Monument in Brancepeth Church
This monument shows the reclining effigies of the Earl of Warwick and his wife, carved in wood probably during the 16th century. Brancepeth is five miles west of Durham. It is said that the woodwork in this church is the model for that of Durham cathedral. Unfortunately a fire in 1998 destroyed all but a few solid oak roof-timbers.
