A Bit of News

Photographer: Evans, J. W.
Medium: Photographic print
Date: 1892
Prize-winning photograph in the 'Portraiture and Figure Studies' category of the 'Amateur Photographer' Monthly Competition No. 37, July 1892
"'A Bit of News' (J. W. Evans, Wolverhampton - Bronze Medal). A very pleasing study of an old man reading. The pose natural and easy, and, notwithstanding the fact that a small stop was used, the definition has been sufficiently subdued to produce a soft and pleasing result. Mr. Evans is an amateur photographer, well known to many of our readers, who, we feel sure, will not grudge him his success. An exposure of six seconds was given with a lens aperture of f/22."
