“An Artist’s house-boat. – House-boats such as those depicted in this view, or such as one is used to see by the dozen on the Thames are very scarce on these waters, in fact might be numbered on the fingers of one hand. The one here shewn belongs to a well-known artist and is a familiar sight on the Broads. A smaller studio-boat belonging to the same artist came to an untimely end last year on Heigham Sound, as it went down in a gale, but fortunately with nobody aboard.”

Letterpress description by Ernest R. Suffling accompanying Plate XCVII from ‘Sun Pictures of the Norfolk Broads’.
