"The frontispiece is a reproduction of Mr. Arnold J. Cleaver's (Liverpool) 'Beaver Pool, Bettws-y-Coed,' which secured the First Silver Medal. This photograph was taken with a Dallmeyer single landscape lens, with stop working at f/32, and an exposure, on a very dull day - raining all the time - of 12 secs. The plate used was an Ilford Ordinary, and the print is on a 'bromide card' example of photography, and the delineating of one of Nature's lovely spots by the photograph lens."

Text by Charles W Hastings, editor of 'The Photographic Societies' Reporter,' 'Amateur Photographer,' 'Photographic Quarterly,' etc.
