Cascades On The Lyn

Photographer: Thompson, Stephen
Medium: Photographic print
Date: 1875
In the book 'Studies From Nature' Stephen Thompson evokes his feelings for the scenery of the River Lyn, which inspired the following text accompanying his photograph, "Few rivers present so much that is both picturesque and beautiful, in so short a distance, as the lovely Devonshire stream that rolls joyously down the valley of East Lyn! The stream rises in Exmoor, and, though its whole length is not more than ten miles, it is the last two miles from the cascades above Watersweet down to the sea that are so beautiful - two miles of the most romantic scenery in the West of England."
