Colossal Vase From The Public Garden At Berlin, By Professor Drake
Photographer: Delamotte, Philip Henry (1820 - 1889)
Medium: Photographic print
Close-up of a colossal vase from the public gardens in Berlin at the reconstructed Crystal Palace exhibition hall in Sydenham Hill. The building was originally designed by Joseph Paxton to house the Great Exhibition of 1851 in Hyde Park. It attracted more than six million visitors to a showcase of the century's technological and artistic achievements. Each nation had its own stand, judged by international juries, with Great Britain winning most of the prizes and the accolade "workshop of the world".
